My name is Miia and I am an artist and designer at Mia Liv. Earlier this year I packed up my home and my family and we moved from Oulu to Lahti but I strongly believe that our journey will continue to the capital region next year. It is a dream of mine that me and my sister Annukka will finally be able to physically live in the same city and work together more closely.
I am the artist behind Mia Liv’s art posters and paintings and I design all our other products as well. I am very pleased we were able to get our posters to look just like actual paintings. You can hardly tell the difference!
How was Mia Liv born?
Annukka and I ran two interior design shops for years: one in Oulu and the other in Helsinki. While working in the stores was amazing and fun, for quite some time we had been dreaming about being able to do our own thing and create something unique and one-of-a-kind for scandinavian interior decor.
Where do you find inspiration for your art work?
In the life happening around me and in my own life experiences. I am inspired by colors blending into one another and all different dimensions this creates.
For how long have you been into visual arts and painting?
Since I was a little child. For a long time I was searching my path with art, until I came across acrylic paints, abstract art and colors some 10 years ago.
What are you passionate about?
In addition to art, my answer is music. I listen to music when I paint, as well as when jogging or playing with my daughter and even in the sauna! I am an eternal dreamer and good music always helps me reach total relaxation. I admire vocalists’ talent and secretly wish I knew how to sing and maybe play an instrument.
What is your favorite product of Mia Liv collection?
Definitely True Blue I poster. The deep shade of blue is absolutely fascinating and the simple design language of this print is just beautiful.
What do you dream about?
I am already thankful for everything we have achieved. I do, however, wish for Mia Liv becoming more well-known to people and that my art work would find its way to be presented in a small and cozy coffee shop for example.
What is something that you are thankful for?
I am lucky to have an amazing, loving family and for this I am very thankful.
A few years back we lost our father who had been battling a severe disease for quite some time. This was the point where I realised none of us are here forever and that we should enjoy life and little moments, here and now. I am also very grateful for the courage and creativity that I have been blessed with. To be brave enough to try, and to trust yourself despite any hardship and challenges faced along the way.
